Samsung left the Messe floor. For the first time since 1991, the company that used to fill City Cube is not on the main IFA Berlin hall map — and that is the story before you get to any of the screens.

IFA runs 4–8 September 2026 at Messe Berlin. Samsung Connect is downtown at Humboldt Carré in Mitte, about eight kilometres from the fairgrounds, open 2 September through 6 September. IFA listed the downtown showcase in the official programme. The products still showed up. The stand did not.

TechTimes, Seoul Economic Daily, and GadgetsNow all carried the same structural fact in September 2026: Samsung skipped the main Messe floor after more than three decades of continuous presence. City Cube had been the company's home for twelve years. That stand measured about 8,700 square metres. You don't quietly walk away from a footprint that size. You relocate it, and you put a different address on the badge.

Humboldt Carré sits in Mitte, roughly eight kilometres from Messe Berlin. Samsung Connect opened there on 2 September, two days before the fair's public gates, and runs through 6 September. The invitation list is tighter than a hall-floor booth. Press, partners, and invited guests walk a city venue instead of a fair aisle. IFA still put the downtown showcase in the official programme, which matters: this isn't a rogue side event. It's on the map, just not in the same building.

What did they bring? Start with the monitor that will dominate the gaming briefings. The Odyssey G6 is a 27-inch Fast IPS panel. At HD resolution — 1280×720 — it hits 1,100 Hz. At QHD — 2560×1440 — it still does 600 Hz. Response time is listed at 1 ms. Those numbers are the point of the product, and they're what Samsung put in front of attendees who made the trip into Mitte. You don't need a City Cube aisle to show a 1,100 Hz refresh if the people who write about panels are in the room.

Foldables came next. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is listed at 215 grams, with an unfolded thickness of 4.1 millimetres. The standard Galaxy Z Fold 8 comes in at 201 grams and carries a 4,800 mAh battery. Weight and thickness are the metrics foldable buyers actually argue about; Samsung put both on the Connect table. Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 and Galaxy Watch 9 round out the wearable line. Galaxy Book6 covers the laptop slot. For the United States market specifically, Samsung is showing the Galaxy S26 FE — a mid-range S26 variant aimed at that sales channel.

Television isn't absent. Micro RGB TV sits in the living-room pitch. Samsung is also expanding the "AI Living" concept, an extension of the AI Home story the company has been telling across appliances and screens. Connect is framed as a place to walk that stack end to end — phone, watch, book, TV, home — without the noise of a full hall. Whether you buy that framing or just note the address change is your call. The address change isn't disputed.

Why leave City Cube? The wires don't hand you a single corporate motive speech. What they report is the first absence from the main Messe floor since 1991, the twelve-year City Cube residency, the 8,700-square-metre scale of that stand, and the move to Humboldt Carré with IFA's programme listing attached. Chinese manufacturers, including Xiaomi in the centre hall this year, have been expanding European show floors. Samsung's Connect format puts the brand in a controlled downtown venue while the fair still runs at Messe. Those are the facts on the page. The strategy essay is for someone else's column.

Humboldt Carré is a Mitte venue, not a temporary tent in a car park. Samsung Connect opened ahead of the public IFA days, which is how invite-heavy showcases usually work when a brand wants press days before the aisle traffic. The programme listing means attendees who read the official IFA materials will find the downtown address without needing a separate rumour chain. That's logistics, not spin.

Product cadence still matters even when the venue changes. A 1,100 Hz HD mode on a 27-inch Fast IPS panel is a specification aimed at competitive play and reviewer benches. The QHD 600 Hz step keeps the same chassis useful when you want more pixels. Fold weight under the mid-200-gram range, and an unfolded thickness called out at 4.1 millimetres on the Ultra, are the metrics Samsung chose to lead with. Battery capacity on the standard Fold 8 — 4,800 mAh — is another number you can put next to last year's sheet without inventing a lab test. Watches and the Book6 fill the wearable and PC rows. S26 FE for US sale is a channel note, not a global SKU lecture. Micro RGB and AI Living keep the living-room and smart-home threads alive for European buyers who still associate IFA with televisions and connected homes.

The 1991 marker is the historical hinge. Continuous main-floor presence since then, twelve years in City Cube, then a downtown Connect for 2026. Seoul Economic Daily and the English-language tech wires carried the absence as news because the absence is unusual for this brand at this fair. GadgetsNow and TechTimes put the product list and the Humboldt Carré address in the same September filings. You can walk the fair and never see a Samsung aisle banner on the Messe floor. You can still see Samsung hardware if you go into Mitte during Connect's window.

Eight kilometres isn't symbolic distance. It's a U-Bahn and taxi problem for anyone trying to cover both the centre halls and Connect in one afternoon. IFA's decision to list the showcase in the official programme reduces the chance that downtown coverage gets treated as off-grid. Samsung still wants the IFA week audience. It doesn't want — or at least didn't book — the City Cube square metres this year.

If you're covering IFA this week, you'll spend time at Messe and you'll spend time in Mitte. The Samsung badge is downtown. The fair still lists it. The Odyssey G6, the Fold 8 pair, the watches, Book6, S26 FE, Micro RGB, and the AI Living concept are what Connect is showing. City Cube's 8,700-square-metre Samsung residency is over for this cycle — and, as the companion notes from this fair already say, Xiaomi took a centre-hall position that Samsung no longer fills. That's a separate story with its own numbers. This one is simpler: Samsung left the floor, kept the products, and put eight kilometres between the stand and the Messe gates. First main-floor skip since 1991. TechTimes, Seoul Economic Daily, and GadgetsNow had it in September 2026. The floor changed. The week didn't cancel Samsung — it moved the address.
